For thousands of students across Rwanda, the release of national examination results is more than just numbers on a screen. It is the beginning of a new journey, filled with hope, dreams, and opportunities. On August 19, 2025, the Ministry of Education, through the National Examination and School Inspection Authority (NESA), officially announced the long-awaited results for Senior Six (S6) and Technical Secondary School (TSS) graduates.

For many young Rwandans, this moment is not only about celebrating hard work but also about making decisions that could shape their futures—whether that means applying for university, seeking scholarships, or entering the job market.

Why the Results Matter

Completing S6 or TSS is a milestone. For general education students, these results determine university entry and access to higher learning institutions. For TSS graduates, they open the door to technical and vocational pathways, bridging the gap between school and the world of work.

Behind every result is a story—a parent who sacrificed, a teacher who guided, and a student who pushed through late nights of revision. That is why the moment these results are released, emotions run high across the country.

Where to Find Your Results

To make the process simple and accessible, NESA has provided digital platforms that allow every student to view their results instantly. Here are the main options:

1. Online via the SDMS Portal

Students can log in to the official results portal at https://secondary.sdms.gov.rw.

Step 1: Visit the website.

Step 2: Enter your Examination Index Number (the unique number you used in your final exams).

Step 3: Click on “Get My Results” to view your performance in all subjects and the overall grade.

This portal is mobile-friendly, meaning students can access their results from anywhere using a smartphone or computer.

2. Via SMS (when available)

For students without internet access, results can be retrieved through SMS. By sending the Index Number to the code provided by NESA (usually a short code such as 8888), students can receive their results directly on their phones.

Human Faces Behind the Results

Every year, success stories emerge. Some students achieve top national ranks, while others proudly celebrate overcoming personal challenges just to sit for the exams. For TSS students, the results also carry the promise of entering Rwanda’s growing technical and vocational industries, which are at the heart of the country’s development agenda.

Teachers, parents, and guardians also share in the moment. For them, these results validate years of effort and sacrifice, reinforcing the belief that education remains the surest path to opportunity.

What Comes Next?

Checking the results is only the beginning. S6 students will now prepare for university placements, scholarship applications, and other higher learning opportunities. TSS graduates, on the other hand, may choose to pursue further training in polytechnics or step directly into the workforce with the skills they have acquired.

The Ministry of Education has encouraged students to look beyond the numbers and think carefully about the opportunities that lie ahead. Whether pursuing higher education or joining Rwanda’s labor market, these results serve as a foundation for bigger dreams.

Final Word

The release of S6 and TSS results is not just an academic exercise—it is a national moment of reflection and celebration. It reminds us of the resilience of Rwandan students, the dedication of teachers, and the unwavering support of families.

If you are a student who just received your results, remember this: they do not define your entire future, but they do open doors. Step through them with courage, curiosity,

 and hope.

Congratulations to all S6 and TSS graduates of 2025!
